The Teacher: Cait Jones
Cait loves singing, and she loves singing for dancers. Born and raised in New York City, she plotted her way through the American Songbook through the stylings of Ella Fitzgerald and has expanded to love Mel Tormé, Peggy Lee, Dakota Staton and so many more. Inspired by how dancing and music lift each other she has enthralled wide audiences from her native city and beyond. Cait pulls from country, jazz, blues and gospel singers for a sound that is at times sultry and soft, explosive and full. She has played at Birdland, BB Kings, for Balboa Week, on The Intrepid and multiple years for the BABBLE Exchange. She headlined in Montreal and Adelaide, Australia, making appearances in Seoul, Bangkok, Taipei and Melbourne. With a deep love for the music and dancers, Cait weaves a musical palette to keep you dancing and enthralled by timeless narratives throughout the swing era.
Cait about Sing, Sing, Sing:
“We still connect with lyrics to songs that are sometimes over 100 years old – Take this track and learn why, through singing! Share your voice and gain confidence and etiquette to sit in with jazz bands. Learn how to lead a band, count in tunes, call endings, and tantalize listeners with the stories you tell. Get ready for three afternoons of jazz vocals”
