Team

Upside down is a jazzling fresh swing dance and art festival, carried by many hands, hearts and souls.

In the preparations for this year’s winter edition, we welcome new or recurring team members to make this happen!

Is there an Upside Down Ambassador hiding inside of you?

We are opening up Ambassador positions for those who want to contribute to the realization of the festival

  • You love to create beautiful things (including many, many clouds)? The deco team needs you.
  • Logical thinking is your game? Meet our state-of-the-art registration system.
  • Itching to shape the Warm-up Sessions throughout the year? Welcome to programming!
  • … and plenty more options.

There is something to do for everyone, and everyone has something valuable to bring to Upside Down. Our ambassadors are key to putting together Upside Down throughout multiple work events or meetings. If you’re not sure what your cup of tea is, we’ll help you figure it out (hell, we’ll bring you an entire high tea buffet).

Up for more responsibility?

We are looking for folks who want to go the extra mile as Upside Down Responsibles. Is 2023 the year you are closely involved in the making of Upside Down? Or are you keen to take on additional responsibility and sharpen your coordination skills doing so?

Behind the screens, the Responsibles are the peeps in charge of smooth teamwork and good vibes. Together with the organizers, you will conceptualize, plan and guide the approach and accomplishment of one of Upside Down’s moving parts (programmation, logistics, network building, communications, registration…) Task packages, just like Responsibles, come in different shapes and sizes. Let’s chat to discover your superpowers.

Benefits for Responsibles

  • everything mentioned under ambassadorship:
    • you have a direct impact on the festival and in the scene
    • you are part of a cozy community of lovely people
    • you develop amazing skills
    • you get all the upside/inside information first-hand!
    • you can join all team activities, including fun get-togethers and teambuilding events
    • … of course there will be free food & drinks at the team activities in Ghent. We repeat: free food and drinks!
    • you get free access to learning circles and trainings
    • you have guaranteed access to the festival when buying a ticket (we work with a raffle system)
    • a spot on our wall of fame and our eternal gratitude
  • plus, you have end responsibility for a specific domain of the festival
  • you will (further) develop leadership and coordination skills by supporting ambassadors throughout the preparation phase. Definitely something to put on your CV and boast about to your friends.
  • There’s a nice reduction on your festival ticket, or you can join totally for free (in line with your task package)
  • if you are unable to volunteer your time due to financial restraints, we are open to discuss payment or compensation

What is expected

  • a long-term engagement to make Upside Down happen. This means that you work at events as well as autonomously at home.
  • the contents of your work vary. We estimate a fluctuating time investment (sometimes busy, sometimes less so), but depending on the size of your task package
